Ghana – West Africa
|
|
The Republic of Ghana – occupying 92,000 square miles (about the size of Indiana) in West Africa between Ivory Coast, Togo and the Gulf of Guinea – is home to 20 million people. There are 100 ethnic groups, and while English is the “official” language, there are 72 distinct language groups. In 1900, less than 5 percent were Christian, but by 2000 that number had increased to 64 percent. Muslims account for 21 percent. Of the 72 languages, only 8 have the Bible in their language.
